![]() You will need at least a two month trial license and the ELM327 adapters you find on line these days I would not trust for this process!Ĭonsider a better adapter than you have posted! When you are spending $400.00US+ for modules it seems like bad economy to spend only $20.00 to $30.00 for a cheap ELM327 which is very likely a poorly copied clone of the original(cannot find any of these online anymore) which the original designers of the ELM327 never envisioned ever doing this kind of work, instead of $49.95US(on sale right now, I checked) for the FORScan tested and recommended OBDLink EX adaptor at or vGate vLinker FS at the Vgate website or their respective Amazon store listings! If you get new modules they will come blank as in no Firmware configuration or strategy or AsBuilt files installed(the reason for the 3 hour programming estimate at the Dealer)! To do this programming in FORScan you will need the 2.4.4 branch of FORScan now available in the beta test thread on this Forum along with a link to the Firmware programming guide which you should read several times until you fully understand the process and the dangers! I would be interested as to why they are telling you these both need to be replaced? What are the malfunctions that prompted this decision? ![]() The cost is super high so I was looking at used on the APIM, but I am not really finding the FCIM for my car. I am wondering if a program on one or both of those modules could work, before I go buy new ones. The dealer told me I need a new APIM and FCIM, and of course they have 3 hours of programming on the diagnostic sheet. If so, how do you get the newest version and upgrade the firmware? Is there a process to update that firmware to a newer, maybe improved version? I am just thinking the original AS-Built could be buggy. I understand that you use AS-BUILT to get the module recognized and working. I have been watching videos on this and have a couple questions. Does that file have all the data for all the modules, eg APIM and FCIM? ![]() I downloaded the AS-Built data file for my car from the Ford link. I bought a ELM327 connector and I have forscan installed. The programming is obviously why I am here. ![]() I have been a lot of reading about maybe getting the parts and replacing them myself. The dealer just told me that it needs a new APIM and FCIM. I have a 2013 Lincoln MKZ and I am very new to this, so please bare with me. ![]()
